Synopsis:

St Louis, 1903. The Smith family, with their four daughters, the eldest Rose (Lucille Bremer), seventeen-year-old Esther (Judy Garland), and the younger Agnes and Tootie (Margaret O'Brien), eagerly await the World's Fair to be held in their city the following year. Esther falls in love with John Truett (Tom Drake), the boy next door, who at first hardly notices her. Then Mr Smith (Leon Ames) announces that he has been offered a better job in New York and the family will move there after Christmas. For the family, the move means giving up St Louis, their friends and the Fair, and they are dismayed. Directed by Vincente Minnelli, with the songs The Trolley Song, The Boy Next Door and Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas.
