Synopsis:
The life of Isadora Duncan (Vanessa Redgrave), the American dancer who revolutionised dance at the beginning of the 20th century. Born in San Francisco, she believes that only Europe will appreciate her art, and travels there with her family. Dancing barefoot in flowing Greek tunics instead of ballet costumes and pointe shoes, she causes a sensation and soon becomes famous. She falls in love with the stage designer Edward Gordon Craig (James Fox) and has a child with him, but refuses to marry, and later lives with the millionaire Paris Singer (Jason Robards). Her life is one of art, freedom, love and tragedy. Directed by Karel Reisz; Vanessa Redgrave won the Best Actress award at the Cannes Film Festival.
