Synopsis:

Jordan 'Bick' Benedict (Rock Hudson), a wealthy Texas rancher, travels to Maryland to buy a stallion and falls in love with Leslie Lynnton (Elizabeth Taylor), the spirited daughter of the horse's owner. After a whirlwind courtship they marry, and he takes her back to Reata, his enormous ranch in Texas. Leslie struggles to adapt to the harsh life and the traditions of Texas, and challenges her husband's attitudes, especially toward the Mexican workers. Meanwhile Jett Rink (James Dean), a poor ranch hand who resents Bick and secretly loves Leslie, inherits a small piece of land, strikes oil and becomes a rich and powerful man. An epic spanning 25 years, directed by George Stevens, who won the Academy Award for Best Director.
